Our current inspiration — be it ingredient, weather, song or whatever — is

A really interesting book from 1913 called "Dishes and Beverages of the Old South" which contains a lot of information about entertaining in addition to cooking, and lots of descriptions of very peculiar old heirloom crops that were common back then - ever heard of an Indian blood peach? A Cabbage collard? They've both got really interesting stories behind them.
