In San Francisco I would go to the Tadich Grill and have cioppino and I would have some open pit bbq in Texas.

I think it would have to be Texas. Land of all things big and lots of bbq.

well, now that san fran is king, i guess i would go to pizzeria Delfina for the cold tripe, then to the 500 bar around the corner for a dose of metal,pbr and maybe a little nip of bourbon.

That's tough, but I'd have to go with San Francisco, because wine country is right there to provide the libations, and the multiple climate zones in the area make for very diverse produce selection nearly year-round. It's true San Francisco sourdough has a unique taste, and the seafood and Asian cuisines are great. There's also wild fennel growing everywhere, and it's one of my top five all-time vegetables.

If we go to Texas it's BBQ for sure,and if we go to San Francisco
it's the North End and Chinatown.

San Francisco has amazing food. Even the touristy Fisherman's Wharf with Chowder in Bread Bowls is a must when we visit. But we never go without a trip to Chinatown, the atmosphere is unbeatable for an early afternoon pig-out before heading back to the hotel for a late afternoon nap.
In Texas, we've really enjoyed San Antonio's river walk and Boudro's Pecan Lamb Chops.

I went to college in Texas and there is a ton of good Tex-Mex food that you don't really get in Chicago. There are a zillion different spots for great queso and enchiladas. Other spots I'd hit are Whataburgers (fast food), Any bbq joint in Austin, and certainly that steak place in Amarillo with the 96 oz Ribeye. That's serious Texas grub

San Francisco!!! First, I would go to Swan Oyster Depot. Then, I would go to In-n-Out Burger...get a double double animal style with animal fries and a chocolate shake. Finally, I would drive to Los Gatos and eat at Manresa. :)

SF is the winner by a long shot for me. I love eating in that city. Right now I would head to A16 because its always great, and Quince for a pasta tasting menu from Chef Tusk. I would like to stop at Saison as well. Very curious about that restaurant. After that, a trip to the Marin County Farmers Market to see the bounty of the west would round out a pretty good couple of days for me.

in san francisco, i would directly head to the mission district and have a glass of wine and a small plate in as many places as i could. food quality there is awesome, as is wine/ texas, i love the barbacoa- braised lamb tacos.

I would focus more on Sanfrancisco, for two reasons.. one is because the giants are going to win the world series. two is because the dining scene is better. You can go get any cuisine you want there, and it's all so good. The seafood is amazing because it comes from there. The pizzas in town are awesome, and the sandwiches are great too. A lot of nice breweries are there too. It has it all. The best thing about the dining scene there is that they have the same concept as us.. Keeping green, and buying all your ingredients from local farmers.
