Always an honor, and it gives more to strive for. bistro 110 was a surprise, and the southern should have been on it. But i think its hard to tell how good the list is until the stars come out.

For instance, places like avec, inovasi, blackbird, and vie had better get a star or more, if those three do not then there is some serious issues with Michelins tastes. The most glaring being that every single one of those places is as good or better than the ones in the Bib list, and 2 of them fit the pricing criteria.

I see it as an honor, but I can understand why certain restaurants would see it as a consolation prize - those chosen for Michelin Bib Gourmand are no longer eligible for a star. I was surprised at The Bristol and Girl & the Goat - I thought they would get a star. They missed Avec and Longman & Eagle...but, hopefully that's a good thing right? We'll see next week.

No - I think that all of the recipients were deserving and are great for the Chicago food scene.
Michelin has a certain criteria, and greatness can still exist outside of their rules, so I'm glad to see they reward deserving places that are doing their thing.

The Southern, Big Star

any recognition is a great thing for restaurants, If Balsan had received a Bib Gourmand we would have been very honored.

I suppose it would be an honor for those at the right price point to be listed by Michelin, but honestly I haven't been paying attention.

An honor. Being recognized as a great value and a "little secret" spot is terrific. It's where we would hope to fall at HEARTY.

I think it is a great honor and a delicious list of restaurants who got the 'chalk Michelin man' outside their door. Gonna wait to comment on who is missing until 11/17 when the stars are announced.

For app and entree and a glass of wine under $40 with good food, I think these restaurants are perfectly positioned right now.
