Question of the Day
How do you feel about the Shamrock Shake?
AVOID!!!
I try to stay away from soupy green things. I think that my past health craze drinking all that wheat grass juice did me in.
I haven't been to McDonald's in too long to remember, and no green shake is going to change that. If I'm going to drink something ridiculous, I'd much rather go for a Slurpee from 7-Eleven, preferably in a Whatever Action Movie Is Out Now-themed cup.
Yuk-what a disgusting mess of a drink the shamrock shake is. I despise it. It tastes like a minty version of maalox or pepto. I would be happy to never see or hear of it again. Thanks again Mc Donald's!
You know, i've never actually had one. Never had a mc rib either.
I have to say I'm excited about the option for whipped cream topping this year.
I have to one a year. I just dont tell anyone. until know. I really dont think its even that good just tradition.
One of the first things I think of if I need to vomit.
hmm...i really am not sure what a shamrock shake is? Am I that out of it?
hate to say this but i kinda secretly love it... it brings back childhood memories
I actually have never had one. I know that it is green but what is the flavor? Is it mint? I think the food coloring scares me that it is so artificially green. When I think of "shamrock shakes" I prefer a Guinness.
It is part of American food lore now...that said, I avoid it like the plague.
I used to really like them when I was a kid. Of course, our small Southern Indiana town was beside itself when a giant corporation like McDonald's noticed our little hamlet and decided to open shop there. In retrospect, it was a horrible development but we were so excited. I've probably eaten at McDonald's five times in the last fifteen years and each time it gets worse. None of those five visits were during shamrock season; I bet it's been more than 20 years since I've had one and I won't be going out of my way to get one this year either. It seems many of those things I enjoyed there back in the day are garbage and I just didn't know it then. I'm pretty sure if I had a Shamrock Shake today, it would be revolting.
Guilty pleasure - spring isn't complete without one. Of course, I like to make them at home and add vanilla vodka and creme de menthe. Boozy green goodness!
Are you seriously asking about the Shamrock Shake?! It's one of my secret obsessions! In fact, we even pay homage to it in our book with an Irish Pirate (Dark Rum, Pure Mint Extract, Milk, Chocolate Chip Mint Ice Cream). I shouldn't admit this, but come Shamrock Shake season I drive thru McDonalds when I'm alone and toss out the evidence before I park the car.
I absolutely love shamrock shakes. It's like the bad childhood nostalgia that you can't live without.
Well, in general, I avoid McD's like the plague (except for the rare hangover breakfast), but not due to the Shamrock Shake, which is essentially just a mint milkshake. Nothing wrong with that, unless, of course, it's made with McD's freaky non-dairy whatever milkshake base that doesn't even actually melt. (Try it!)
We did a Candy Cane milkshake at Edzo's during the holiday season that very much reminded me of the Shamrock Shake, but it was pink. Since we're partial to strange-sounding shake specials, I'll have to figure something out to do a green one for St. Paddie's Day.

i used to LOVE shamrock shakes. unfortunately, i think they changed it. i noticed this change last year...hoping it was a mistake. it wasn't a mistake. i recently purchased a shamrock shake via drive-thru and they dare asked me if i wanted whipped cream and a cherry! this is crazy talk - everyone knows that a shamrock shake comes plain! now get this...i don't know when it started, but shamrock shakes are now vanilla mcflurries with some green crap syrup lackadaisically mixed into the mcflurry. big sighs to this - they have introduced too many variables to get a consistent product. i don't understand why they changed their method - if you do, please let me know.
