Question of the Day

What should be the next food book-based movie?

Not specifically a food book, but oh-so-influential in my career and life: George Orwell's Down and Out in Paris in London. Maybe a young Steve Buscemi as the broken-backed plongeur in the third sweaty basement of a huge, dirty building, sweating out the previous night's bottles of rotgut.

I think Rick Tramonto's "Scars of a Chef" would be perfect movie material--it's truly inspiring. I thought about that book for days after reading it. To play Rick? Maybe Andy Garcia...

I bet that'll be a great movie. I really enjoyed the book...Bill's a great writer and interesting character.

I'd like to see David Chang's book in movie form. But instead of him cooking, explaining recipes, or telling his story, it's essentially "Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle" but with Chang and Alex Stupak running around New York. Shenanigans would certainly ensue.

Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential which sort of got this whole business of books started.
It could be very entertaining.

White Heat, Marco Pierre White. I'm thinking Daniel Day Lewis could handle that role
