Butternut Squash Clafoutis at Floriole Cafe & Bakery

Butternut Squash Clafoutis ($5.50)
Our Floriole-style "Pumpkin Pie" isn't technically pumpkin. We happen to have it on good authority that many canned "pumpkin" purees are actually squash. The fact is, the difference is minor, but many favor the consistency and sweetness of squash. At Floriole, we love butternut squash, and you'll catch us roasting, peeling, and deseeding the lovely gourd starting in the fall and going all winter. Our butternut squash clafoutis is a silky custard in a lovely orange hue baked in spicy gingerbread and topped with a healthy dollop of whipped cream.
Pairing: New Holland Ichabod Pumpkin Ale, $7
