All-spice and nutmeg, if used correctly they are amazing enhancements but I think two many times they are over used and they will really over power any dish

i'm not a huge fan of anise flavored spices... tarragon, star anise, licorice. i think they tend to be very aggressive and overpowering. i do love shaved fennel though.

Fresh tumeric root. It lends such a great depth to dishes but can easily overpower anything it touches.
