Ideas in Food and The Ulterior Epicure would be tied for my favorite for two very different reasons. Almost five years ago I flew to Queens and spent an afternoon cooking with Aki and Alex of Ideas in Food. I am pretty sure they changed my life. They have opened up their toolbox for everyone to see and use. They have helped chefs spark ideas and continue developing amazing techniques. I do not think the culinary world would be the same without them. I also think everyone should have a copy of their book in their kitchen. It is priceless (ironically really affordable).
The Ulterior Epicure has allowed me to travel to places that I may never get to go and has helped inspire me with places that I NEED to go. The photography is equally inspiring.
